History of Baltimore City Medical Society

The Medical Society of Baltimore was formed on 12/26/1788, 19 "medical gentlemen" organized the MSB. Initial officers were President, Dr Charles Frederick Wiesenthall; Secretary, Dr Frederick Dalcho. It may not have lasted long, as a second Medical Society of Baltimore was formed on 1789 by Dr Edward Johnson (President), and Drs Boyd, Goodwin, Brown, Gilder, Buchanan, and Andrew Wiesenthall. Some believe this was a reorg of the first one. BCMS is one of the oldest City Medical Societies in the country. ^[1]
